On 10th February 2000 an Euroclub was set up
with the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry on the initiative of the Euro Info
Centre-Sofia under the aegis and with the financial support of the European Commission.
As a Chairman of the Club was elected Mr. Egidio Canciani, the Economic Adviser of the
Delegation of the European Commission to Bulgaria. The Vice Premier and Minister of
Economy Mr. Petar Jotev, the Chief Negotiator for Bulgaria Mr. Alexandar Bozhkov, the
President of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mr. Bojidar Bojinov, the
representatives of the Delegation of the European Commission and the ambassadors of the
member states of the European Union became honorary members of the Club.
Members of the Club are also officials, directly involved in the process of accession,
journalists, interested in eurointegration issues and businessmen from different sectors,
predominantly small and medium-sized enterprises, exporting to the EU.
For the journalists a seminar is organized concerning the role of the Euro Info Centres
for the adaptation of the national business to the requirements of the internal European
market and also presentations of the Euro Info Centres in Bulgaria.
Following the principle of the "Business Barometer", as a means of feedback from
the companies to the European Commission, the entrepreneurs-members of the Club receive on
a preferential basis a full package of services, while the journalists provide the
transparency of this process.
